Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend

3 days / 2 nights

DAY 1:

  • Celebrate the legacy of Dr. King at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. The MFA offers free admission to Massachusetts residents that includes access to the “Georgia O’Keeffe and Henry Moore” exhibit.
  • On your drive back to MetroWest, visit the “Many Cultures, One Heart” public art project that displays the ethnic diversity of Framingham through a series of heart sculptures.
  • Try out El Sabor Salvadoreno for dinner. Their authentic tacos and quesadillas are worth the visit!
  • Check into the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Framingham for the night. This new hotel sports a comfortable, contemporary design and offers many great amenities!

DAY 2:

  • Visit the Danforth Art Museum to take in some of their amazing exhibits such as Illeana Doble Hernandez: My Dear Americans, it’s not enough.  Illeana Doble Hernanadez describes herself as an artivist combining art with activism.  Also on display is the Meta Vaux Warrick Fuller Special Collection – Fuller used the figure as metaphor to represent broad themes as African American artists and intelligentsia sought to formulate and celebrate an African-American cultural identity and express racial experience and social issues in America.
  • Head over to Start Line Brewing for some excellent craft beer and some good eats. They have an extensive line of IPAs as well as some delicious pub starters and belly warming chili.
  • After dinner, take in the 4th annual Winter Blues Fest at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts.

DAY 3:

  • Choose to attend one of two amazing events that are being held on Monday, January 20th. The 38th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Breakfast Celebration will be held at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Conference Center featuring Keynote speaker Dr. Eurydice Stanley.  Also, Natick will be hosting their 20th annual MLK Community Celebration honoring the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at Natick High School.
