Lunar New Year is celebrated across Asia and around the world. This year, the holiday, which always falls on the second new moon after the winter solstice, marks the Year of the Snake, one of the 12 animals of the zodiac in many East Asian countries. Ring in the Year of the Snake at the Hopkinton Chinese New Year Gala at Hopkinton High School. They will be celebrating with a potluck party on January 25th.
If you visit a bit into the new year, celebrate at the Museum of Fine Arts on Thursday, January 30th. Observe the Lunar New Year by exploring Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese art from their collections.
While in town, check out the Chinese New Year Pop-up Market on Boylston Street. The market will feature flowers, gifts and decorations.
After your day in the city, settle in for dinner at U Dumpling House in Framingham. They feature authentic Northern and Southern Chinese cuisine with a specialty in gourmet dumplings.

DAY 2:
After a leisurely morning, grab some lunch at Shaanxi Gourmet in Natick. Try one of the chef’s specials such as Sizzling Eight Delights & Egg Tofu. Their delicious food will leave you satisfied and ready to take on the day.
Head into Jamaica Plain to the Loring Greenough House to check out the Kung Fu Performance in their garden by the Wah Lum Kung Fu & Tai Chi Academy.
After the performance, attend their Dumpling Wrap Party to learn how to make two types of dumplings from northern China.
If you visit toward the end of the New Year Celebration, take in the Chinatown Main Street Chinese New Year Cultural Event at the China Trade Center in Boston. This event will feature arts and crafts for children, calligraphy, live performances and a lion dance.
